CP Train Station Robbery

A Central Islip man used a stick to rob a Carle Place man at the train station this past weekend.

According to detectives, while waiting for the Long Island Rail Road on Cherry Lane, Carle Place on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7:14 a.m., the 23-year-old male victim was approached by Taimak Witherspoon, 20, of Central Islip. Witherspoon, who was holding a 3 foot wooden stick, demanded the victim’s property. After obtaining a wallet the defendant jumped a fence into the parking lot and fled northbound.

Third Precinct officers observed Witherspoon a short time later on the corner of Silver Lake Boulevard and Roslyn Avenue. The defendant fled on foot westbound and was apprehended on Roslyn Avenue.

Witherspoon is charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a Weapon and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned Sunday, Sept 20 at First District Court in Hempstead.
